Jett and Amelia's first competitive eating contest

As tradition (at least for me - Melisa sat this time with a fever) the family heads down to the Luling Watermelon Thump - to catch the parade, swim in the river, enjoy just a real old fashioned type festival. This year I pushed both Amelia and Jett to try to win us some money by competing in the watermelon eating contest.

Amelia was less excited about it until I told her that with money we can buy more sno cones.

On your mark.... get set.....

Post script... they did not win.

Side note. Seems like I always take one pic a year of the crape myrtle tree in full flowering.
