Joshua and Rachel's - South by Southwest Music Festival

I got tired of seeing my mug on the last update. Anyways, this week in Austin is the South by Southwest music festival (where hundreds of bands come and perform all week at all the local venues). It is absolutely massive and consumes downtown. Melisa was super kind to let me go check out the festivities a little bit on Friday and again on Saturday. Amelia is too young for all the music mayhem so Melisa tended to her while I went with my new friend Rachel. Here she is walking down sixth.

We kept getting stopped up by people. Apparently she knows a lot of people in Austin cause people kept stopping her and taking pictures with her.

Apparently she is some author and food critic.

Yummo!! (isn't that her catch phrase??)

Did you see any great new bands that you're just dying to tell your friends in Oregon about? We need some new music.

hi sarah.

its hard there are soo many bands playing - one that caught that were fun - the wombats (maybe they are already big) they have this tune that is getting a lot of buzz "lets dance to joy division". that was the funnest one i saw. i really only scratched the surface. i saw lots of bands that i never caught the name or just saw one or two tunes.

I had a hard time finding new stuff and was surrounded by old. I caught pieces of devotcha, most of billy bragg, pieces of yo la tengo, and a little bit of Sia

Duffy (winner of the welsh american idol?) is going to probably be amy winehouse big if amy winehouse dies.

Ice Cube played tonight in the park.
